2025 Studio.SC Christmas Tree Competition

The brief was simple: use creative flair and sharp design thinking to craft a tree that captures the essence of Studio.SC while still honouring the Christmas traditions we know and love.

Working individually or in teams, our staff developed proposals for their vision, complete with pitch decks, design rationales, diagrams, renders, physical models and in situ mockups.

Under the scrutiny of a judging panel of Director Nick Bandounas and Associate Minda Muhana, every concept was tested and refined. Only a flawless design would take the crown.

At the end of the first round of presentations, it was clear that more work was needed. After all, the intention was to build the winning tree in time for Christmas.

Following some firm marking by Nick and Minda, as well as a contentious points system, two teams advanced to the final round of design development:

This final stage gave both teams the chance to refine their concepts and ensure the designs could be constructed within the office.

But one presentation stood out to the judges for its technical detail, creativity and practical feasibility. That was The Ribbon, designed by Ethan Zhou, Boyang Liu and Ioannis Petrakis.

With the winner crowned, it was time to for the team to construct their tree for the annual Studio.SC Secret Santa.

Timelines were tight, and despite wavering optimism from fellow staff members, The Ribbon came to life.

The Ribbon brings together a collection of Studio.SC’s most meaningful moments from 2025 and earlier, celebrating both the projects and the people that define the studio.

The tree invites our team to come together, reflect and celebrate, before welcoming what promises to be another fun and exciting year ahead.
