One Small Step for Housing, One Giant Leap Forward for Sydney...
We’re super excited to announce that 158 Wyndham Street has received Development Approval - the first multi-residential project approved under the City of Sydney’s Botany Road Precinct planning controls. This milestone unlocks critical housing just moments from Waterloo Metro and within an evolving inner-south precinct.
Shaped through a close collaboration between the City of Sydney, Blueshore Development Group, Pomeroy Pacific and Ethos Urban, this six-storey project on a narrow 7-metre-wide frontage, is the result of nearly two years of rigorous testing, unpacking of controls, and design advocacy.
"158 Wyndham showcases what’s possible on constrained infill sites—demonstrating how incentive-based planning, design excellence, and housing uplift can work together to deliver meaningful mid-rise outcomes in transport-oriented locations." says Studio.SC's Co-Managing Director, Thomas Hansen
Designed to respond to Alexandria’s industrial and domestic tension, the contextual design utilises textured concrete, brickwork, glass, and dark metal materiality to reflect the neighbourhood’s grit and charm. The cantilevered façade gestures towards Alexandria Park while optimising solar access and streetscape alignment on a site where tick-a-box metrics wouldn’t have delivered the best outcome. With flexible, lifestyle-led apartments, dual-aspect living, and communal spaces at the ground plane and rooftop, this small footprint delivers more than housing — it sets a precedent for smart, design-led density in Sydney’s city fringe.
