The StudioSC-designed Taronga Zoo Sky Safari has received SSDA approval from the NSW Government at the end of last week.

This landmark cable car project replaces ageing infrastructure at the 100-year-old Taronga Zoo on Sydney Harbour. It will significantly enhance visitor amenity and accessibility, delivering stronger public transport connections to the Zoo. The gondolas will rise through the treetops to offer families an affordable and memorable way to experience sweeping views of Sydney Harbour and the Zoo below.

The Lower Station design wraps the infrastructure in a Nawi-inspired form, shaped through Connection to Country dialogue. It layers opportunities to share stories of the Harbour’s history and cultural significance, embedding place and heritage into the visitor journey.

Congratulations to our client, Taronga Zoo and to all the design collaborators involved, including FCAD as First Nations design consultant at concept phase and Newscape as Landscape Architects.
