In support of the City of Sydney’s commitment to rejuvenating Oxford Street as a live entertainment, cultural and creative precinct, 17 Oxford Street will be transformed into a vibrant mixed-use site that re-imagines entertainment and activation through a true mixed-use entertainment-based proposition.
The core challenge and opportunity on the site, was honouring the original built fabric the defines the streetscape and contextual connection. Through the retention of the former industrial brick façade, we have located within the basement, two levels of entertainment and cultural uses including cinemas, flat floor entertainment spaces and bars.
To the ground plane, we have active retail, a new cinema lobby to Oxford Street, and renewal of Verona Street through a new workplace lobby that connects to a creative commercial hub above. To the rooftop, we have located an entertainment offer, with a landscape green roof and terrace space. On the upper levels, the design provides a crystalline and dynamic façade that wraps the workplace floors, providing both excellent daylight and amenity within, whilst creating a luminous and lightweight form above the industrial era brickwork.
