Architecture and landscape are conceived as one, guided by the site's former wetland character. The design tracks the natural flow of water, shaping a green communal heart at the centre of the development. This living ground plane becomes both landscape and structure, a place where movement, gathering and everyday life intertwine for residents.
Two buildings rise from the living ground plane, framing the courtyard and defining a clear yet welcoming street edge. The buildings brick and tiled forms reinterpret the familiar language of Hillsdale's pitched domestic forms, translating it into a contemporary expression of community living. Subtle variations in height, texture and colour bring rhythm and identity while deep reveals and generous balconies provide shade, privacy and connection to the outdoors.
Together, the architecture and landscape create a new neighbourhood that is open, inclusive and restorative. The design invites connection between built form and natural systems, establishing housing that fosters community and renewal.
